when an artist wants to show you their art

or a writer wants you to read what they’ve written

it’s quite often an expression of trust

because a poem or a story or a painting are often things that come from the heart

little pieces of the artists themselves

and if they’re willing to share it with you

you should appreciate it

final results on my first attempt at animation in photoshop.

it still sucks, but i love it. i love it lots.

i wish i could say something to everyone who draws or writes or creates, no matter how good or bad, and just swoop them up into my arms and say

i love it, this is great. keep going.

everyone should feel great about what they can do and their abilities

even if they’re not the best they should see what they do and be like

whoa!! i created something. i made something entirely unique and my own and i did it by myself

children are yours too but you have to share that and take care of it so fuck it

look at your work and be proud of it and keep working you can only get better and you are amazing

people are amazing

another update on that animation attempt.

horengee: to the non-artists with artist friends.

sssjin:

Okay, I’m not saying that artists has it a lot harder than non-artists people, but it’s just frustrating when they can’t understand what artist have to go through too. Most people get a salary paying job with hours, schedule, and shifts. Once their shift is done, they’re job is done for the day/week and they get to do whatever they want with their remaining time. For us, art is not a career or a title that we can switch off and on. Artists strive every day, every waking hour trying to find inspiration, to improve, and try to find a place for themselves and their art in this world… As Becky said, people tend to take design/art for granted. it’s something that surrounds us every day of our life and it’s something that people dont realize how much research and time it takes to produce it. The fact that art students dont write papers everyday doesn’t make us any less “smart”. Just like anybody, we’re people who has a passion and goal in mind that we’re working towards.

beckhamyang:

I am an artist (or an art student to be specific), and I have non artist friends. Really smart ones. It always somewhat bothered me, because regardless of whether or not they realize it, their attitude towards me is sometimes somewhat condescending. I know that they don’t always mean it, but I’m…
